Top Flr has a lounge feel to it. It is a 2 story restaurant and bar in Midtown that is open late and has great deals on some awesome food. The environment is very vibrant and the loud music is more so for those wanting to go to dinner somewhere fun and live.
Everything I've had has been fairly good at Top Flr. Particularly the pork belly appetizer, which I made into a dinner meal. It was very tender and the fat nearly melted in my mouth. The pork belly is slow roasted for hours and them baked to get a bit of the crispiness on the fat. The meat sits on top of a bed of sauteed kale, peppers and shallots. It was a perfect portion for me and the flavor was simple and perfect, seasoned with sea salt and peppercorn.
Siam Thai is the only Thai restaurant in downtown Decatur and they have every right to be. The restaurant is a small and quaint establishment off Sycamore St. facing the downtown courtyard. There are about 10-15 tables in the restaurant and the ambiance is a happy medium between casual and evening dining.
The Progressive Dining Experience is an innovative way to network and 'do something different for dinner'!
The purpose of the series is to create an exclusive experience were the audience of The Classy Critic can learn more about food, the inner workings of a restaurant as well as network with each other.
Bhojanic started as a catering service over a decade ago and has grown to open up the initial location in Decatur and their second location in Buckhead Spring of 2013. The atmosphere is casual and inviting and has a 'green' type of environment with re-purposed wood and burlap textures in various places of the restaurant. The music is soft and subtle and the staff is super attentive and friendly. Everyone knows the businesses history so the culture among the staff carries its own sense of pride.
10th & Piedmont is in the heart of Midtown Atlanta in the LGBT neighborhoods. And if anyone knows me, I love the gays! I fully support the community. Regardless, the restaurant has a great lounge feel to it and the food was nice and comforting.
**Note: Spice Market has been replaced with a new restaurant called TRACE since Fall 2014.
Spice Market is a hidden gem within Midtown. Unless you frequent the W Hotel or visit Atlanta and stay at the hotel as a guest, Spice Market isn't usually on your radar for places to eat in Midtown Atlanta... however, it should be!
Sapori di Napoli is a family run and owned establishment... love places like this! The owner is a small white haired Napolean that is as sweet as his nutella tarts that his wife makes daily. The family environment is warm and welcoming for anyone... no matter their status, color, religion, etc.
Fanoos takes me back. Persian food became a favorite of mine in 2009 when I moved to Southern California. The Persian community is growing in Atlanta and that's probably due to the fact that their money goes so much further in Atlanta than any other metropolitan city.
Kilwins is one of my favorite retreats after a long day or just to treat myself. In the back corner of Atlantic Station by Yard House and Publix, Kilwins is a family owned confectionery shop that has some of the best ice cream in town. They also have any and everything dipped in chocolate, fudge, sprinkles... you name it!
